Day at a Time

Home Again. Home Again.

Walking through the door after a long vacation always feels so good. You can finally take a breath and just… relax (especially when we cleaned the house before we left!). It’s nice to sit down, cuddle up on the couch, catch up on our emails and enjoy this quiet time before life starts up again.

I love sitting here thinking about my favorite moments from our latest adventure. Gamma, as they call Matt’s Grandmother, was so much fun to watch as she experienced her first trip to Disneyworld. Lauren, Matt’s sister, and her husband, Justin, walking together, hand in hand, weaving through the little kids and families. Matt’s parents, smiling with utter joy because their family is all together in one place, the happiest place on earth. And by far my favorite part, watching the fireworks over the castle with my husband’s arms around me.

So now we’re back home and ready to take on the world again! I hope everyone has had a fabulous week so far! I’d love to here what you’ve been up to! Work? Vacation? Any funny things to share!? Tell me about it!

Somewhere else

Relax in the sun.

Sorry for skipping out on a couple of days there. The past few days have been packed with Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and then a repeat of Epcot last night.

Today we relax. We’ve done every park at Disneyworld and we leave tomorrow afternoon. This morning we woke up refreshed after a full night of sleep and went to breakfast.

Now I’m enjoying the warmth of the sun and a good book. I’m sitting at the Disney Dolphin Pool. It’s such a fun atmosphere! The pool is built to look like a river and has bridges to swim under every so often.

There are so many noises surrounding me; children laughing, water splashing, and families chatting. I’ve got Adele Pandora blaring from my little iPhone and am enjoying myself quite a bit. I could get used to this.

A day of relaxation was just what I needed after four Disney days.

Cinderella’s Castle

The Fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom was the highlight of the fun filled, yet very tiring day at Disney. As soon as the lights went down and the projector decorated the castle with beautiful designs, my heart started to beat just a little bit faster. And it wasn’t from all of the running around. When I saw the bright castle and its slowly changing colors, I truly felt what Disney was all about. Disney is about imagination, romance, and family. It’s a time when families come together and every adult in the group can feel like a child again and that’s what it’s all about.

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes…

We are so blessed to be with our family today at Disney. I can’t wait to share all of the stories with ya’ll.

Gamma has never been to Disneyworld. So we are celebrating her 75th birthday as well! Happy Birthday, Gamma!

Here we go!

Recipe for Delicious

I’ll have Syrup with that.

Syrup is a quaint breakfast restaurant located in the heart of Cherry Creek. It’s our favorite place to eat breakfast and we go every Saturday morning.

I love walking in and being greeted by the owner, Tim. As we sit down at the table we read over the large menu trying to decide what we’re in the mood for. M’s favorite thing to get is the breakfast burrito and mine varies, but the Jan omelet ranks highest.

M’s breakfast burrito comes smothered in green salsa with a side of sour cream. My omelet is stuffed with green onions and I always order a side of fruit like the one in the photo.

Today we went for lunch since we won’t get to go tomorrow. Because tomorrow… We will be in Disneyworld! More to come on that later.

We spent the day packing, cleaning, and getting ready. Now we’re off!

My Friend

This, is my friend. Heather. We’ve only been friends for a short time. The more I get to know her though, I know she will be a forever friend. I know she can be trusted with my secrets. Trusted with my fears. Trusted with all my goofy jokes and silliness. She is a true friend.

After spending time together, we each go home to our husbands. And when I get home, I always feel blessed to have shared another precious moment with my friend.

My friend is kind. She is special. She is unique. She is sweet. She inspires me. She is beautiful. She is creative. I thank God He allowed her to come into my life. She has truly been a blessing to me and my new life in Colorado. I love you, friend. Thanks for always spending time with me. It means the world to me that you call me your friend.

Day at a Time

YOU are beautiful.

The other morning, I was getting ready for work and Matt was about to leave for the office. I can always tell when he is almost ready to go. His keys rattle as he picks them up and I can hear him gathering up his briefcase or whatever he’s bringing that day.

Normally, I like to leave at the same time, but I was running late. We’d kissed goodbye and said our morning prayers and I was standing in front of my armoire trying to figure out what to wear.

I hear M close the door, but then he opens it again, looks at me, and says, “You are beautiful.”

My husband is so good at telling me this ALL the time, whether I think it’s true or not, but this morning… just the way he said it. It really touched my heart and I told him about it as we drove to work this morning. I told him how sweet it was and how it just made me feel so special and loved.

So for my readers out there today, I wanted to pass this along… You are beauitful. Among the women in our lives, we always hear about the need to lose weight, what we would just love to change about ourselves, or how we just don’t feel beautiful (myself included).

Today, we should make it our goal to look in the mirror and truly see something beautiful. Whether it’s your whole outfit, your hair that went your way today, or the fact that you’re smiling and it’s going to be a great day.

YOU are beautiful.
