Do What You Love | Aubrey Hubbell Design | adesigncollection.com | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

We’ve all heard the sayings – “Do What You Love”, “If you love what you do, then you’ll never work a day in your life!” …and the list goes on. But have you ever really thought about it? Have you sat and considered the fact that you really do have the opportunity in this life to find something you’re truly passionate about and run after it? What a wonderful way to spend your time everyday, loving every second of it. Okay, maybe not every second, because let’s face it, anything we want, takes work. It’s not all roses and sunshine, but at the end of the day when you feel you’ve accomplished something and your proud of it, you feel you’ve touched someone in a special way or really feel as if you’ve made a difference, isn’t that love? As a college student, I’m always pondering those statements up there. I’m slowly learning what I’m good at and gathering a few ideas up as to how I can use my talents and things to do something I’m passionate about and really love. Love is passion. Love wakes you up in the morning. Love is what I do. If you love what you do, you love who you are.

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

Love Yourself Link Up: It Doesn’t Get Easier

Easier | Aubrey Hubbell Design | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

Sometimes life takes over and leaves you without a minute to spare, but like everything, we evolve and learn to work with the seconds we are left with during the day. We get better at taking advantage of the quiet moments of the early morning to do a little clean up or stay up a little later to read a page of your newest read. Lately, I’ve been going to bed later and waking up earlier. I’m slowly transitioning into the morning person that existed before the snooze button was discovered sometime in my middle school years. It feels good to be able to figure out how to use these 24 hours in a less stressful way. I may have a million things to do and some may get done late, but I bring myself to awareness and realize, it’s not going to completely change my life for the worse if it’s a few minutes late or I have to finish it in the morning. When there are so many things going on, it’s easy to get caught up in them, feel stressed and feel as if nothing is getting done, but perspective is a wonderful thing and planning is even better. I wake up in the morning, write  a list of things I have to do and then separate those things into parts of the day. Sitting here in this moment, I make myself focus and get at least one thing from my list done. Once it’s done, I take a break, grab a cup of tea, put a pretty dress on and sit right back down to work on another project. It works! I feel less stressed, more productive and Miss Visual over here sees items disappear from the to do lists before my very eyes. Do you ever feel completely overwhelmed by life and all of the projects going on? How do you cope? Do you like lists? How do handle it? I’m trying over here and feeling better and better everyday, but I always love to hear more ideas on coping with a busy schedule!

I hope today encourages you in showing that you are not alone with your overwhelming schedule and ever expanding to do lists. It’s a struggle, but just remember, it doesn’t get easier, you just get better. We all have to learn to manage our time and do our very best at everything we can!

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

Enjoy Your Own Company | Aubrey Hubbell Design | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

Do you feel better after being with a group of friends or when you’re alone to recharge? It’s so important to be social and to be surrounded by good friends, but some days, it’s good to enjoy your own company. You and you, that’s all. Being by yourself gives you time to think, pray and really work on your inner and outer self. I love being with my husband and doing things together. Sometimes I forget that while I have my alone time while he’s at the office, he needs his time to recharge after work. Whether it’s going on a run, reading a book or taking a nap. Having alone time is very important. It brings you to your focus and puts things into perspective. When I’m feeling overwhelmed and stressed, my favorite thing to do is just sit and write down everything that’s on my mind, to do lists, my five year plan or things I need to buy in the next few months to FINALLY make our new home feel like home. After writing all of that down, I read through it and I always feel so much better. I see that everything that’s scattered in my brain is now organized and all of a sudden I don’t feel so overwhelmed. How do you use your alone time? Do you use it to unwind or recharge?

Inside | Aubrey Hubbell Design | Love Yourself Link Up | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

We as women today, encourage each other to love our outsides, love our curves, our hair, our eyes, our physical appearance. But what about our insides? From our insides come many things that eventually make us who we are. Have you heard the quote by Lao Tzu?

Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

This is such a powerful thought. Everything we do and say stems from our insides. Are we thinking kind thoughts about others? Are we thinking positively? Are we keeping mindful of our innermost thoughts, keeping them pure and kind? Are those thoughts helping us use words to build others up, acting in a way we can be proud of, creating habits that characterize us an honest, pure, thoughtful and a beautiful person – from the inside out? Think about it? What we see on the outside is a reflection of the inside. Do you love your insides? They can be so lovely if we think on things that are right and true.

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

Love Yourself Link Up: The Mold

Fitting the Mold | Love Yourself Link Up | Aubrey Hubbell Design | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

Society has a mold for every type of person you want to be. If you want to be “the girl next door” there’s a mold for that. You want to be the “nerd”, there’s a mold for that. Maybe you want to be the “rebel”, you may think you’re going against society, but there’s a mold for that one too! We as members of this society put these molds on others and even try to make ourselves fit into these molds. Whether it’s how we look or how we act, if we want to be a specific “mold”, we feel we have to be exactly what we’re told we should be. As women, we have a mold in itself that society has created for us. We have to be a certain, height, weight, wear certain clothes to make us sexy and have that perfect look! What doesn’t make sense is we are all our own person, we were all made to be unique and real. We can’t fit into a specific mold even if we tried.

The other day while on a run, a song came on my Pandora station.. it’s called Outcast by Kerrie Roberts. Her lyrics struck a chord with me as I thought about trying to fit certain expectations society places on us and what I felt like I should be to make others happy…

So what if I don’t look the part I’m supposed to play

What if I don’t follow all the rules they make

They think I should be perfect, they love it when I mess up

No grace in case I blow it, a good girl shouldn’t need it

I’m not good enough, I’m not what they want

But let me tell you what, I know who I am

So just throw me out for not fitting in

I will stand my ground and be an OUTCAST.

I thought really!? That’s the worst I can be, an OUTCAST in this crooked society? I can have my opinions, look and dress the way I want and that’s all I’ll be called. Yes, being different takes guts, a lot of them. Standing up for what you believe in and being the best person you can be with society telling you what they think is right and who you should be, it’s not easy. But at the end of the day when you look at yourself in the mirror and you see someone who has been true to herself, stood her ground in what she knows is right and didn’t worry about that mold society tells her to fit in, how can I not love myself because I was true to myself. I wasn’t meant for a mold. I was meant to break out of it! I have to remind myself of this everyday, but every time I go against the mold and make a way for myself, I find out who I am and learn to love myself because I know I’m being true to the person I want to be.

So go out there today and be an outcast!

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

Love Yourself Link Up: Run to the Goal

Today I am writing as part of the Love Yourself Linkup – an ongoing blog series that focuses on topics like self image and body image. Goal Quote | Aubrey Hubbell Design | Love Yourself Link Up | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

Running is not a passion of mine, but it is a goal. Running one mile, two miles and maybe one day I’ll do a race. Running is a goal that takes work. It takes a lot of mental encouragement and encouraging yourself isn’t always easy. Every block I pass, I try to be proud of myself. Because that’s one more block more than I ran yesterday. Setting goals is the fun part. Figuring out how to get there, that’s the important part.

Those steps whether small or large are the most crucial part of your goal. If it weren’t for those steps, you wouldn’t continue to come closer to the goal. So, with any goal you have, don’t get discouraged because it’s taking longer to achieve. Just know every second you work on that goal, your one second closer to reaching it – no matter how many seconds it takes.

Today I ran, yesterday I ran. My first goal is to run the mile without stopping. I’m focusing on that and when I reach that first goal, I’ll set my next one. I will encourage and be proud of myself every step of the way because that’s what it takes. Love yourself. Be proud of yourself. You will reach your goals.

Love Yourself Link Up: Be Inspired

Love Yourself | AubreyHubbellDesign | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

Today I am writing as part of the Love Yourself Linkup – an ongoing blog series that focuses on topics like self image and body image. A community of women post their thoughts on these topics and tell stories of personal experiences. We’ll share what inspired us, challenged us and more! Yesterday afternoon I thought about this post and what I wanted to share. I pulled up Pinterest and I was really surprised when I searched “Love Yourself”. There were so many inspiring words and phrases. It really showed me, loving yourself is something everyone deals with. It’s not easy. Between society’s expectations on our bodies and our expectations for ourselves. Loving Yourself is a constant challenge we face. Looking in the mirror, looking at others around us and reading the latest magazines with the beautiful models, we are constantly comparing. What if we just loved ourselves, just the way we are.

I’d like to share a few inspiring words I found in hopes they would also uplift and encourage you to love yourself today and show you that you are not alone. We all face the challenge of loving ourselves and feeling like we are enough. Let these words fill your heart and mind and be a daily reminder to LOVE YOURSELF.

Darling, open your eyes. You are not made up of those words that hurt you or that number on the scale. You are not the expectations that you feel you will never meet. You are made up of nothing more than you.You are a lovely and complex soul. An individually fascinating combination of thoughts, ideas, feelings, emotions. No other is as beautiful as you. Look past the mirror. Look at your soul. Only then will you see yourself as you truly are. Beautiful.

Stop hating yourself for everything you aren’t. Start LOVING YOURSELF for everything you are.
Love Yourself. Without your flaws, you wouldn’t be you.

Your mission: Be so busy loving yourself and your life that you have no time for hate, regret or fear.
CAUTION!! Object in mirror may appear distorted due to socially constructed ideas of beauty.

Love yourself. Accept yourself. Forgive yourself and be good to yourself. Because without you, the rest of us are without a source of many wonderful things.

I hope these words encourage you as much as they did me. You’re not alone, that’s why we write about loving yourself and the issues we face everyday too. Happy Tuesday, Friends!
