When I was three years old, I moved to Washington State from California after my step Dad and Mama got married. A year later, the Hubbell family moved to Washington and we all attended the same church. Quickly Matt’s Mom and my Mama became close friends. Both of our families went to dinner regularly after church and soon we all became close family friends. Matt, being six years older didn’t chat much with me, but Lauren, Matt’s sister became like my big sister. In the summer of 2001, my step Dad was transferred to the Southern State of Georgia, and we all said our goodbyes. Our moms stayed in contact, so we all kept up on what the other was doing through high school and college. During my senior year in high school, I found Matt on Facebook. I decided to “friend” him. He quickly accepted my request and we began messaging. We messaged back and forth for many weeks, soon turning into long, massive messages that we called chapters of our book. We began to text, call, and even exchanged Christmas packages. Then on Valentine’s Day, Matt sent me flowers. That was the first hint he gave me… Wow, Matt Hubbell might like me?!
After six months of talking, we planned a trip for April! Within two days of my visit to Denver, we knew that we wanted to make this work, even if we had to fly across the country every month. In October 2009, Matt surprised me with a visit to Georgia and popped the question that night! May 22, 2010 was our big day at the lovely Primrose Cottage in Atlanta. It was the best day of my life. It was truly the perfect day. We honeymooned in Disneyworld and the beautiful Cayman Islands.
That’s our story. It’s been three years now and I’m more in love than ever.
Now what you’re about to see, took a lot of courage, but feel free to laugh really hard. That’s us, age 10 and 17. Notice, Matt looks exactly the same, not fair.
