Celebrate Good Times, What to Wear

A Blues Party!

Blues Party | Chic to Chic Blog | www.chictochicblog.wordpress.com

This past weekend, we celebrated my birthday and Matt’s birthday. Mine was on the 14th and Matt’s was the same day as the party, the 16th! We settled on blue as the theme and ran with it! I have to say, it was a fabulous! From the clothes we wore, to the drinks, to the rock candy – all shades of blue. We decided to have it at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver. We had our party there last year and it was such a hit, we decided to go for it again. The museum has an incredible rooftop café and that’s where the party took place. The food was incredible and the cake was sweet! We ate our rock candy, had good conversation, posed with our photo props and made the best of memories! My amazingly talented friend, Lauren from Pearls Poppies Pinkies Up was so wonderful and captured so many special moments. She even did a mini photo session after the party for our Christmas cards and did a little feature on her blog today! So, without further adieu, enjoy our Blues Party!

And that friends was our Blues Party. Our annual parties mean the world to me – to be able to bring together all of our closest friends from different areas of our lives, treat them to a party that gives them an experience and opportunity to explore something they might not otherwise, like the MCA. On our birthdays, we like to love on our friends, spoil them a bit and let them know how thankful we are to have them in our lives. Good friends are hard to come by and best friends, even harder, but I tell ya – we were surrounded by some of the best Saturday afternoon. I hope they had as good of a time as we did. We made memories that will last and genuinely had the best of times. So thank you friends for taking time out of your day to celebrate with us and for letting us treat you to a little bit of blues and fun!

Forty Something Fourths

Today is my Mom’s birthday. She shares it with our great country, America. Or as she likes to think, the whole country is celebrating her! For the longest time, when I was little, I really did think everyone had fireworks for MY mom’s birthday. I mean how cool is that!

My Mom, she’s spunky, sweet, giving, loving, goofy, the life of the party, ornery and really, the best mom I could’ve asked for. Growing up, I learned so much from her. She taught me life lessons through her life and showed me how to be a good wife.

I’m so thankful for such a godly, hilarious and incredible mother. Happy birthday to you! We’ll be celebrating your birthday with fireworks in the mountains. Love you, Mom.

Big News, but not that news.

Whenever I say I have BIG NEWS everyone seems to think I’m pregnant. So, before I announce, I AM NOT pregnant, but we do have big news. We signed on Monday and are officially moving next month! I made a paper chain and half our stuff has been gone through and packed. In four days. I think I’m excited. You see, we’ve lived in this wonderful area of Denver for two years now. Our landlords are incredible and their pup makes my heart melt, but our place is a garden level apartment. That’s the nice way of saying it’s essentially a basement. I love to entertain, but not here. I love natural light, but the windows aren’t big. I love decorating, but we have a wood paneled wall that makes it very difficult. So, after two years of thoroughly enjoying the area, we are moving up. We are not only moving to downtown, but to a penthouse – literally up! My wildest dreams have come true and we found a wonderful little loft right in the center of it all. It’s the perfect place to entertain our friends, enjoy the city to its fullest potential and even enjoy the sunlight coming through our BIG windows. Best of all we have a dishwasher. Did I forget to mention that we’ve been living without one for the past two years?! Yeah, my nails hate me. I know, it’s the little things. This is a big step for M & I and we couldn’t be more excited! If you happen to follow me on Pinterest, you’ll notice I created a board called House change. and it’s gotten a lot of attention from me.

This is a photo of the building in the 1920s. It was a department store in Downtown Denver and then closed and was changed to condos in the 1980s. I always love a city building with history. It makes it that much more special.

As we prepare to move I’d love to hear any ideas and tips on moving, organizing, reorganizing and even tips on living in the city. Along with the move, we’ll probably make the transition to a one care couple too. School is within walking distance and we’ll just figure things out with that. Lots of changes around here. Let me know your thoughts on the moving process! I could really use advice and ideas on how to redecorate in the city. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say.

Happy Friday, Friends! Have a fabulous weekend!

A man who treats his woman like a princess is proof that he was born and raised in the arms of a queen.

My darling mother-in-law. It’s her day today. I am so thankful for this precious person in my life. Since I was a little girl she was always so giving and so sweet to me. Who would have known that one day she would become my second mom. She always puts her family first, plans the best family vacations, makes sure I am never without an adorable Starbucks card and sends us the best little surprises for every holiday. I am so thankful for my Mama Sue. I am one lucky wife to have such a wonderful mother-in-law. And best of all I am thankful she gave me Matt. He is the best husband I could have ever asked for. She is one amazing woman.

Happy Birthday, Mama Sue. I love you.

xoxo Aubrey

Happy Birthday, Dearest.

Heather,

How blessed I am to have you as my friend. You have brought so much happiness, laughter and “girliness” into my life. You are quite possibly the sweetest and kindest person I know. You always bring a smile to my face when I see you. And every time I do, I just want to run up and hug you and tell you everything that has happened in the last week since I saw you last and hear absolutely all of the details of yours. I look forward to refurbishing many furniture pieces in the future, going on lots of girly trips and spoiling ourselves on shopping trips. You, my dear are my friend and I am thankful for you.

Happy Birthday!

Love – Aubrey
