Fall is in the air and it feels so good! This weekend I brought out my favorite Fall details and added a few more, just in time for a little dinner party with our friends. Fall has a natural feeling of warmth, coziness and provides the best opportunity to welcome guests with smells of pumpkin and cinnamon, warm soups and a beautiful little details. The little details can be a little touch to make it feel like fall indoors for your guests.

My favorite Fall Detail was a last-minute flower arrangement. I already had a large glass vase ready to go. I grabbed a bag of mini pumpkins at the grocery store and stacked them in the vase, then filled it with water. The flowers are from Whole Foods. Whole Foods is my dirty little secret for the best flower arrangements. They usually have a deal going on for “filler flowers”. I picked out three beautiful bouquets with the help of the florist and she made the arrangement of golden spider mums, little orange daisies and eucalyptus, at no extra cost I might add! The entire bouquet cost $12, add a few dollars for the pumpkins and we had the perfect centerpiece for the dining table. It created the perfect Fall feel I was looking for. I put the white and mixed white and orange mini pumpkins around the living room as well as a few glass pumpkins. After the guests left, I’ve kept the bouquet on the coffee table for us to enjoy all day. It’s still looking bright into the week. Our home has a feeling of Fall Ya’ll!

What are your favorite Fall Details? Do you like to fill your house with Fall decorations or open the windows and let Fall come to you?

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

Being a wonderful hostess is something I hope to achieve in my near future. It means so much to me to be able to have friends and family to our home, make them feel comfortable and relaxed and fill them with delicious food and good company. This little snippet from Darling Magazine embodies everything I’d like my home to be and how I feel as our guests arrive. This weekend we had a lovely couple over for dinner. They’re great friends with the best stories and always leave us with feelings of a good time. Anita is an incredible cook. So I encouraged her to share a recipe and I’d buy all the ingredients before her arrival. We then prepared the main course together, a stuffed chicken with a side of green beans, rosemary bread and a fruit and walnut salad with a yummy lemon honey dressing. It was a feast and so much fun to prepare together. The boys chatted and ate the spinach and artichoke dip I had ready for their arrival, while we bustled around in the kitchen. In the end, we sat and enjoyed a wonderful meal with the best company. Saturday morning was filled with cleaning in preparation of our guests and I even found the time to create a fall-like atmosphere. A last-minute fall arrangement and mini centerpiece sat in the center of the table. Little pumpkins were sprinkled all around the main area and it was a fabulous memory made. Being the perfectionist I am, I can stress a bit too much beforehand, but at the end of the night, I was happy as could be. Knowing that we were able to share our home with good friends and make a night of it, makes me feel that I’m that much closer to being a wonderful hostess. There’s nothing like lovely friends, delicious food and priceless memories.

I can’t wait to share the recipes and little details that helped make this dinner party unforgettable. Be on the lookout!

See, we’re making progress! Can you imagine the empty wall filled with beautiful artwork that matches that gorgeous pillow I just found at Anthropologie (on sale!)? I see black and whites, color prints and a really pretty framed scarf. I see the potential. Until, then I’ll be forever unpacking and going through bags filled with the last minute packings of our old home. Oh and I forgot to mention, we are officially out of the basement! We handed the keys over this weekend and only have a carful left to unload. Progress… it’s such a great feeling.

Oh and it just so happens to be “the golden hour” downtown. It lasts but for a moment. I had to capture it for ya’ll. I don’t think I’ll ever get over this view. After all of the unpacking is done, I’ll start looking forward to our first party! Now that the internet is in full gear over here, be on the lookout for the regularly scheduled posts this week – especially tomorrow’s Love Yourself Link Up! I’ve got a topic on my mind I hope encourages you.

See you tomorrow! Happy Monday, Friends!

City Dwellers | A Move or Two

20130731-081734.jpg

Well hello there, friends! It’s been a few days! We’ve been busy over here. I can finally announce my dreams of living downtown have come true. We are officially city dwellers. As you can see, we’re not completely moved in, my shiny new bicycle sits in the living room for all to see. I have yet to get a bike lock. But we’ve come pretty far moving everything in. There are still a few things at our little garden level that have to be brought over, but we’ve been staying in our new place since Sunday! I’ve been a little preoccupied with getting settled that I’ve slacked on posting. Well that and the fact that I’m writing from my phone to tell you we’re still alive because we won’t have Internet until Friday. I couldn’t wait until then to share a little sneak peek into my favorite spot in the house. As soon as the Internet is up and running I want to give you a little tour of the rest of the place. I’ll even share a few things I want to add to the loft for fun! If you can’t tell, I’m beyond excited with our new home and I can’t wait to share it with you! So be on the lookout for my mini series, City Dwellers. I hope y’all had a fantastic weekend!

Happy Wednesday, Friends!
