Motivation in the Form of Unmotivation

Vintage Scatter Brain | Chic to Chic Blog |

I’m being real this morning – Ever have those days where you feel completely unmotivated with the huge pile of work sitting in front of you? That was me yesterday. I think it was part overwhelming and part exhaustion. Well, today I’m playing catch up in the form of an early morning work out, the fastest getting ready session and a sprint to the school computer lab to finish a project by this afternoon! Whfew! I’m already tired thinking about it, but I can’t slow down. I should have all kinds of energy stored up from yesterday’s brain pause (aka Pinterest and Netflix binge). Sometimes one just just needs a day to recover from Monday, anyone with me?

*Update: I didn’t have the fastest getting ready session, but I did create a vintage inspired fashion statement – complete with a middle part and shift dress. I couldn’t sprint to the computer lab due to the other fashion statement, shown in the elevator on my Instagram page, here. But, now I’m safely in the lab and after I’ve posted this little blog post here, I’ll be back in business and ready to catch up on my unmotivation from yesterday. It’s funny how when specific things call for your attention, everything else just seems so much more interesting.. like how will I decorate my home in five years? What am I going to wear next week? I should really work on my photography skills…. Yes, this is my brain right now and none of that is on my to do list for today. Oops, anyone else feel like this? Okay, I’m sure you’ve heard enough from this scatter brained gal.

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

Life in Between Goals

Life in Between Goals | Chic to Chic Blog |

Busy busy.. that’s what life has been for this gal over here. Do you ever feel like days pass faster than you can keep up? That’s how it’s been lately. Sometimes it feels as if you’re constantly just trying to keep up with goals and commitments. Some fall through and others take precedent. Trying not to be too hard on yourself for those things that fall through isn’t the easiest, but there are only so many hours in the day. We can only do so much to keep up and then when life settles down and you can take a deep breath, work on those goals and don’t give up.

This little blog of mine became a place to express my thoughts, share my ideas and encourage others a little over a year ago. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to practice my writing skills, push myself to explore and has even brought me a few incredible new friends. But sometimes life gets busy and I’m not able to post every day of the week and I feel guilty. Then I remember, this life is meant to be lived and enjoyed and this blog is a reflection of that. In order to write about life and the exciting and even busyness it has to offer, I have to live it and enjoy it!

I love reading your comments and writing for you, but if you’ll be patient with me as I enjoy every moment of this crazy life, I’ll work on giving you the best of me through writing and sharing. I don’t want to just do a post to do it, I want it to encourage you, inspire you and give you a little insight into this little City Dweller’s life. So in between the craziness, I’ll be working on giving you my best through this blog in a way that keeps you inspired, whether it’s daily or weekly.
Until next time, whether that’s tomorrow or next week, thank you so much for reading and for all of your sweet comments. Each one encourages me to keep Chic to Chic going. I do it for myself, but I do it for my readers too. In the mean time, I’d love to hear your thoughts about Chic to Chic. How long have you been reading? What are your favorite topics to read about? Any questions you have about me? I’d love to hear more from you! Go ahead, leave a comment!

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

Introduction to The Hunted Interior

By now you know I love to share new and exciting things I find. So today is no exception. I’d like to introduce you to The Hunted Interior Blog written by Kristin Jackson. Her blog is focused on Interior Design and “hunting” in your home for ways to redo and reuse things you already have. What a genius idea! My friend has been telling me about her for months now and for some reason, today was the day I finally looked her up. I’ve been changed. I have found all of the inspiration for my new loft in the city (where we’ll be moving THIS WEEKEND) and my future home with little ones. Her style is beautiful, timeless, elegant, sophisticated and every bit of what I would like my home to be. So, without further adieu, a taste of HER home.

Her designs are flawless, homey, comfortable, inviting, but oh so fabulous and lovely. This is what I will strive for. I hope you enjoy this and if you’d  like to fill your pin boards with Kristin’s personal inspiration and her own home photos, visit her beautiful Pinterest page here.

Love Yourself Link Up

Love Yourself Link Up: Be Inspired

Love Yourself | AubreyHubbellDesign | Chic to Chic Blog |

Today I am writing as part of the Love Yourself Linkup – an ongoing blog series that focuses on topics like self image and body image. A community of women post their thoughts on these topics and tell stories of personal experiences. We’ll share what inspired us, challenged us and more! Learn more about the Love Yourself Linkup at Anne the Adventurer. If you have a story to share too, join the conversation by writing and clicking to enter below!

Yesterday afternoon I thought about this post and what I wanted to share. I pulled up Pinterest and I was really surprised when I searched “Love Yourself”. There were so many inspiring words and phrases. It really showed me, loving yourself is something everyone deals with. It’s not easy. Between society’s expectations on our bodies and our expectations for ourselves. Loving Yourself is a constant challenge we face. Looking in the mirror, looking at others around us and reading the latest magazines with the beautiful models, we are constantly comparing. What if we just loved ourselves, just the way we are.

I’d like to share a few inspiring words I found in hopes they would also uplift and encourage you to love yourself today and show you that you are not alone. We all face the challenge of loving ourselves and feeling like we are enough. Let these words fill your heart and mind and be a daily reminder to LOVE YOURSELF.

Darling, open your eyes. You are not made up of those words that hurt you or that number on the scale. You are not the expectations that you feel you will never meet. You are made up of nothing more than you.You are a lovely and complex soul. An individually fascinating combination of thoughts, ideas, feelings, emotions. No other is as beautiful as you. Look past the mirror. Look at your soul. Only then will you see yourself as you truly are. Beautiful.

Stop hating yourself for everything you aren’t. Start LOVING YOURSELF for everything you are.
Love Yourself. Without your flaws, you wouldn’t be you.

Your mission: Be so busy loving yourself and your life that you have no time for hate, regret or fear.
CAUTION!! Object in mirror may appear distorted due to socially constructed ideas of beauty.

Love yourself. Accept yourself. Forgive yourself and be good to yourself. Because without you, the rest of us are without a source of many wonderful things.

I hope these words encourage you as much as they did me. You’re not alone, that’s why we write about loving yourself and the issues we face everyday too. Happy Tuesday, Friends!

How do I get there?

Transportation Leap of Faith Quote | Aubrey Hubbell Design | Chic to Chic Blog |

Do you find that as you turn to find out what your next step is, that there isn’t a clear stairway to climb? There’s always something happening in life. Always something to focus on. But when there’s no path you can find to get you there, a leap of faith is your only option. You have to give up your controls and jump into the unknown. You know you’ll find your way eventually, but until then you have to wait. Waiting, that’s something I’m horrible at. Lines, counting down days, phone calls.. not my favorite thing in the world. But, sometimes I have to wait. I have to be patient and wait to find out what my next step is… or I have to leap into the emptiness hoping something catches me and tell me how to get to my next destination. Today is a vague post, but I hope it still speaks to you. Maybe it’ll speak to a situation you’re dealing with right now. You know where you want to be, but you’re still trying to figure out how to get there. Let’s take a leap of faith together. Tell me how it goes and I’ll share more when I find out!

A Tasty Snack & A Wall Collage

Apple Snack | Chic to Chic Blog |

I’m enjoying a tasty snack post-workout and doing a little Pinterest “ing” this Monday morning.

1 Apple

1 Tablespoon Natural Peanut Butter (softened)

1 Teaspoon Natural Honey

1 Dash of Cinnamon

Cut up the apple and drizzle the honey and peanut butter over the sliced apples. Add dash a bit of cinnamon on the top and Enjoy!

My Pinterest “ing” consists of adding more to my House Change board. I’m brainstorming on a few things for the new place. One thing I’m really considering is a collage wall. Either in the hallway or beside my desk, I’d love to gather a collection of white or black frames showcasing my favorite prints, quotes and maybe some of my own artwork. This is what Pinterest is inspiring me with!
